every story starts somewhere

dripyoga opened its doors at the end of October 2022 to overwhelming response. This chic and trendy boutique yoga studio breathes new life into studio fitness. Music infused classes, candlelit flows, and infrared heat panels are just a few of the standout features.

MaryBeth Searls, the owner of dripyoga, had two main goals when creating the studio: 1. Create an elevated yoga experience and 2. Make yoga more approachable with a fresh take on a traditional practice. Along with their attention to detail, like cool scented cloths at the end of each class, it turns what could be a dreaded workout into an hour of ‘treat yourself’.

The glow of the candles and the sleek, backlit mirror leave the room dark and moody which cuts distractions and provides privacy. This darkness encourages yogi’s to forget about what is going on around them, and instead, venture inward to focus on their own practice. It also allows room to make mistakes. It’s ok to fall out of a posture. drip is focused on growth instead of perfection. This is truly a safe space to let go, no matter what level you practice at.

The studio is also known for its combo of heat and beats. Instructor’s curate original playlists for each class which is the catalyst to drive breath and movement. The juxtaposition between the ancient practice and the modern beats proves to be a perfect blend. The heat is set anywhere from 85 to 105 degrees depending on the class format, and the studio is heated using state-of-the-art infrared technology. This helps create a detoxifying sweat that stimulates blood circulation and increases flexibility. There is nothing better than stepping out of the snow into a warm, cozy room.

drip’s instructors are the heartbeat of the studio and are definitely the main attraction. They are nationally certified and have logged thousands of teaching hours. These high powered teachers meticulously sequence their classes to work every muscle group. Yoga is known to enhance flexibility, but drip’s main focus is on strengthening.

Searls has lived in Glen Ellyn for nine years with her husband Houston and pup Hank. After teaching for several years, MaryBeth was on the search to find a studio to call home. Just like discovering a new favorite cocktail bar or cozy coffee shop, she found herself on the hunt to find a studio that matched her lifestyle. She was looking for a place that put an emphasis on music. A place that had a vibe, an edge. There wasn’t a place that checked all of the boxes, so she decided to build it. After some inspirational recon work taking classes at various studios in Chicago, New York, and LA, she was ready to open a studio that had big city vibes with a small-town sense of community. Glen Ellyn was the perfect place for this new concept.

The fitness industry can be unrelatable and hard to connect with at times, but drip proves that it can be inviting, fun and inspiring. It’s a place to try new things and meet new friends. Whether you’re a seasoned yogi, or have never stepped foot in a studio, drip is here to guide you deeper into your practice.
